BEST CASE COMPETITION
ISBI is excited announce the "Best Case Competition" during the conference in Thessaloniki!
In the face of the tragic losses burn survivors experience, the burn team labors to save life and restore patients to family, work, and hope. Often working with very limited resources, we strive to give back to patients what the burn has taken away. To honor exemplary burn care, the International Society for Burn Injuries is introducing a new ISBI Best Case Competition!
Do you have a case that demonstrates the ideals for which we all strive? You are invited to submit the case for consideration below. Three finalists will be chosen to compete in the Best Case Finals at the ISBI Regional Meeting in Thessaloniki and one winner with be honored as having the ISBI Best Case of 2025!
Successful submissions will display the ideals for which we are all striving in one or more of the following aspects:
✔️ Through rapid and expert acute surgical care, was your team able to save life or dramatically reduce or prevent disfigurement or disability?
✔️ Through insightful critical and anesthesia care, was your team able to successfully help a patient overcome complex or profound critical illness?
✔️ Through compassionate and coordinated multidisciplinary care, was your team able to prevent morbidity or reach a special outcome via the many disciplines that are part of the burn team?
✔️ If severe disfigurement or disability were unavoidable, was your team able to nonetheless arrive at an excellent outcome through efficient and powerful reconstructive and rehabilitative care?
✔️ Through the total work of the team as well as expert multidisciplinary aftercare, was your patient able to achieve an exceptionally high degree of reintegration and good functional outcomes despite a severe injury?
✔️ Importantly, was your team able to achieve an excellent recovery despite resource limitations?
✔️ Finally, recognizing the central importance of the patient themselves in the story of burn survival, did synergy between the burn team and a remarkably resilient patient create an exceptional outcome?

Standard booking is available from 1 September 2025 until 15 November 2025.
Late booking is available from 16 November 2025 until 4 December 2025.
